How to Upload Current Grade to Powerschool

Note: Yous accept to practise this for every new grade. These settings are not copied when you copy a course.

Setup grades in PowerTeacher Pro

You've probably already done this, but it is a good time to cheque that your grades are setup correctly in PowerTeacher Pro. Y'all can exercise that in PowerTeacher Pro by clicking on Settings and Traditional Grade Calculations. Click the arrow side by side to your form and verify that it looks like this for a semester long form –information technology should comprise each of the reporting terms below and each reporting term should have the formula type shown. But if you have a hexamester grade you should have H1 with Category Weighting.

And so click on the edit pencil and verify that the categories you lot want are present and in percentages that match the grading guidelines.

Make whatever changes as needed. Don't forget to check out both quarters for a semester grade. These are the categories that we will be syncing between Canvass and PowerSchool, and so it's of import that they are setup the mode you lot want. As long as y'all're here, yous might as well bank check your other courses as well.

Import the PowerSchool categories into Canvas

In Sail, select the course that you desire to sync and cull Assignments from the course menu on the left. If your categories expect like this so you lot're washed (notice the little arrow after formative):

Merely if they wait like this and then you should keep going:

To import the catagories from PowerSchool so that you tin sync them, click on the vertical ellipse side by side to the blue +Assignments button and cull "Import Assignment Groups".

And so click on the Add together button.

Now take a short break while Sail and PowerSchool substitution pleasantries. This usually takes nigh a minute.

Move assignments into the new groups.

You lot should see your new groups at the bottom of the assignment list. They are probably named the same as assignment groups that y'all have previously created or that were imported from this course in a previous term. That's okay.

Yous can motility all of your assignments in just a couple of steps. Click on the vertical ellipse on the right hand side of the old assignment grouping (the ane without the sync pointer). and choose "Move Content".

Select the correct Consignment Group. Information technology is probably the ane with the same name. Canvas won't let yous move content into the same group, so the fact that it has the same proper name isn't a trouble. You can get out the Place drop down alone, because there is no content in this group right now. Finally click the blue Move button.

Repeat this step for each of the categories that yous are going to sync to PowerSchool.

Remove the one-time assignment categories

Note: It is okay to take assignment categories that do not sync to PowerSchool. I take a category of assignments that is not included in their grade, but is a reminder to do sure things that are role of their form. These "assignments" appear on their To Practise List and Agenda, but are non in PowerSchool.

But these are assignment groups that yous are syncing to PowerSchool, and it would exist confusing for you and the students to have them in twice, and then delete the quondam consignment groups

From the vertical ellipse to the right of the onetime category, choose "Delete" and when the pop-upwards box opens, click on "Okay".

Change the assignment grouping weights

Finally, click on the vertical ellipse at the top of the page side by side to the blueish +Consignment button and choose "Assignment Groups Weight".

Modify the weights to be the same ones y'all used in PowerTeacher Pro and click the blue Save button. This volition make the final grade in Canvass closer to the terminal course in PowerSchool. But for semester courses they will probably not be equal because Canvas has no concept of two quarters with equal weight.

That's it. Repeat this procedure for your other new courses and you're done until the first of the adjacent Semester or Hexamester. You might want to turn Automated Syncing on now.

If you lot want to come across if it is working, go to Grades -> Actions -> Sync to PTP…
